hopping. Board a cruise ship and in a short time you will be among
the San Juan Islands, owned by the US, and the Gulf Islands, a part
of Canada. Salt Spring Island, though Canadian, was largely founded
by former American slaves and is now known for its lush green forests,
pricey real estate and popular downtown shopping area.
